OK Go Release New Video “Upside Down & Inside Out”

I haven’t written anything since before New Years and I owe you multiple posts that are beyond past due but for now we’re going to forget about all that because OK GO RELEASED A NEW VIDEO AND IT’S AMAZEBALLS.

If you follow the band on their social media, you may have noticed them incessantly hinting about this masterpiece. After much antici…PATION *ahem* the video for “Upside Down & Inside Out” has finally dropped into our laps. It starts with an introduction that says the entire thing is really truly shot in low gravity and there are no green screens or wires involved. What follows is a brilliantly choreographed masterpiece of maneuvers to wow the viewer.

OK Go are no strangers when it comes to viral video making. From their first big hit “Here It Goes Again” audiences have been entranced by their work. It’s good to see that they are still keeping with tradition over ten years later. Now to watch that new video about twenty more times…

Jukebox the Ghost – Half Crazy Video

The guys from Jukebox the Ghost have been quite busy lately. They’re fresh off a tour from Europe and have another one coming soon in the U.S. In between all of that they added a new music video to the internet. This one is for the song “Half Crazy,” which is off of their last album, Everything Under the Sun. It has been posted below for your viewing pleasure.

Their December tour starts on the first in DC and continues the next day to Brooklyn Bowl in NY. Full list of dates are:

12/1 – Washington, DC – 930 Club %
12/2 – Brooklyn, NY – Brooklyn Bowl (21+)%

You can be sure I will be attending the Brooklyn Bowl gig and taking a gratuitous amount of photos.

Kate Miller-Heidke – Liberty Bell

From the minute Kate Miller-Heidke’s new album, Liberty Bell, begins, you know you are ready for a dance party full of electronic beats and interesting lyrics. Some of these elements were true of her first album, Curiouser, but, as much as I loved her first attempts at this, they seem to work better here. Miller-Heidke has clearly grown as an artist since she first introduced herself to the world. Where the first album had a few moments that were just a bit too weird for even me to get into, this album has none. My excitement grew with each new song. Things slow down a bit at the halfway point with “Let Me Fade,” but in a completely natural way. It then picks up again slightly with “You Got The World,” but not with the “full speed ahead” vibe the first half of the album had. This is ok, however, because the songs are still strong, albeit slightly more laid-back than the first half of the album (with the exception of maybe “The Flasher”). I strongly recommend Liberty Bell for anyone looking for music with character. As a sample, here is the video for “The Tiger Inside Will Eat The Child”.

Liberty Bell was released in the US Oct 11th on Sony Music Australia. You can find more information on Kate’s website, as well as follow her on Facebook and Twitter.

Florence + The Machine – Shake It Out

Florence + The Machine saw the debut of the video for “Shake It Out” yesterday. I swear, I get more and more excited with each new update from this rhythmically proficient artist. The new song is great, and the video features some wonderful costumes. I’m really looking forward to the album’s debut in November.

Jim Jones Revue – Dishonest John

I already wrote a review of Jim Jones’ album, so I’m just going to leave this video here

Jim Jones are set to appear on The Late Show with David Letterman on Monday, August 29th at 11:35pm EST. Tour starts September 1st with local dates Sept 10th at Music Hall of Williamsburg and Sept 18th at Maxwell’s in Hoboken. Complete list of dates can be found in my previous post.

Florence + the Machine – What the Water Gave Me

If you were worried that Florence + the Machine would not be able to duplicate the amazing sounds of their first album, then “What the Water Gave Me,” the first single of the new album due in November, should prove you wrong. The song is exactly the quality level you would expect from the band that blew us away with their debut “Lungs”. Don’t take my word for it, though. Here is the video for “What the Water Gave Me”

Two New Videos

Hey there, music lovers! A couple new music videos have come out recently that I felt like sharing. One is Jukebox the Ghost video for the first track off their new album.

The other is from Jesse Malin’s album “Love It To Life”

Jess Malin was just at Union County Music Fest, which I owe you a blog post on. As for Jukebox, they can be seen in Brooklyn, NY at Music Hall of Williamsburg this Thursday September 16th. This is their first show in the area since the new album came out, so you’re not going to want to miss this.

Switchfoot – The Sound Music Video

Switchfoot recently announced their new music video is available on Yahoo (as well as their MySpace, which I’ve linked to above). The new video is for “The Sound” which is on their most recent album Hello Hurricane. It features words from John Perkins and an introduction promoting love for the oppressed as well as the oppressors.
