The NPCs – Superman (Goldfinger cover)

This past Friday, Sept 4th, The NPCs released another of their socially distanced videos to the masses. 56 musicians participated in this massive project, plus there was a fun cameo at the end to coincide with a certain video game that released…

Per the video description:

What do you get when you take a bunch of musicians from all over the world, mixed with the release of one of the greatest video games of all time? You get a 56 person cover of Superman!

The video game in question might not be my personal preference, but I do like a good cover song every now and then and particularly enjoyed this one. Mixed with some of my favorite people and this video was quite a treat.

Don’t take my word for it. Jump on over to the YouTube to see for yourself.

Pandemics + Pete Porker @ Characters

The Pandemics backed Pete Porker on a bunch of tunes back in January and in the final stages of me playing catch up, I finally uploaded all the videos to YouTube. Here they all are for easy consumption:

And here are photos from the show:

Your next chance to see The Pandemics will be playing with The Fad and a bunch of other cool bands at Hollis Woods Community Church this Saturday, March 28th. Details of that can be found on Facebook (of course).

Happy Christmas (War Is Over)

The blog has been on an unofficial hiatus for awhile now, and for that I am sorry. The writer (that’s me!) has been dealing with some things, but hopefully next week will more than make up for it. I’ve got a very late live review of Ben Folds from earlier in the month, plus a couple of cd reviews and a giant end-of-the-year post with my top albums and concerts from 2010. But that is all for after the holidays.

Today is Christmas Eve. As a little present (and to make up for a lack of posting) I give you a few videos to put you in the Christmas spirit (or just make you smile).

Jukebox the Ghost video + CMJ news

Sorry I’ve been absent lately. A few things I should have mentioned by now but haven’t for one reason or another.

First off, I meant to post this video Jukebox the Ghost uploaded from their “Free Pianos” shows this summer. Your humble blogger makes a special guest appearance as “overly excited fan”.

Also, CMJ starts today (in case you didn’t know). Tonight is Kevin Devine’s show at Music Hall of Williamsburg. Tomorrow he premieres his new band “Bad Books,” which features members of Manchester Orchestra. Also tomorrow is the Sneak Attack Media showcase, where I will be saying hello to the blog’s favorite band, Jukebox the Ghost. There are lots of other great shows happening all week. I will be talking more about the different shows each day, including a review of KD’s set, which should be up either tonight or tomorrow morning.

Do you have any shows you want promoted this week? Either comment below or shoot me an email at munchkin275@hotmail.com

Anthony Rapp Interview

Here is an interview Anthony Rapp did about his one-man show “Without You”. He answer some questions that I would have asked had I gotten the chance.

And while I have your attention, go check out my coverage of New York Comic Con over at Nerds in Babeland.

I would have written about it here, but they asked and I hadn’t written anything for them yet and thought this would be a great introduction of me to their readers. I had a lot of fun this weekend and would love to share my excitement with all of you. So go check that out.
